Yesterday I managed to sneak in a visit to the Andy Warhol exhibition, Life, Death and Beauty, at the recently renovated BAM in Mons.

I thought I knew all there is to know about his work (like most of us do, I presume), but I was surprised to learn that there is much more to his work than the famous Marilyn Monroe images.

The exhibition is a production of the Andy Warhol Museum of Pittsburgh and is host to a total of about 130 pieces, including works from a number of Belgian private collectors.

Part of the exhibition is dedicated to the connection Warhol had with religion, which might come as a surprise to many of us (including me), but his more famous works also have their spot.

I was really impressed with how the exhibition was curated and the interactive parts, such as the PopMaton, make it really accessible.

Mons is set to be the European capital of culture in 2015 and I think this exhibition proves to be an excellent lead-up.
